The Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL), BC Chapter invites you to participate in focus groups to help shape the future of legal services for Black communities in British Columbia.
Purpose:
With support from the Law Foundation of British Columbia, CABL is beginning the important work of identifying the unique legal needs of Black communities across the Lower Mainland. Your input will help shape the vision, priorities, and structure of a future, independent, Black-led legal clinic for Black communities.
Who should Attend:
• Black community members who identify as LGBTQ+ with lived experience accessing legal services
• Legal service providers, advocates and staff from community agencies that serve Black LGBTQ+ people and communities are also welcome.
What to expect:
Participants will be asked to share their experiences and perspectives on accessing or trying to access legal services, including barriers faced by Black communities. We also welcome your recommendations on how legal services can be better delivered.
Participants will receive gift cards as compensation for their time. Focus groups will be conducted online in a supportive and confidential environment.
